Annie
Based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, Annie the musical was an instant hit from its opening in 1977, running for six years on Broadway at the Alvin Theatre. With music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and the book by Thomas Meehan, it spawned numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, it won the Tony Award for Best Musical, and went on to become a world-wide smash-hit movie musical starring Aileen Quinn, Albert Finney and Carol Burnett.
Reprising one of his all-time favourite roles as the charismatic and sophisticated Daddy Warbucks, Anthony Warlow will be joined by the ever-popular Nancye Hayes playing everyone's favourite villain Miss Hannigan. Todd McKenney, Chloë Dallimore(The Producers)and Julie Goodwin(West Side Story) also bring their talents to this classic musical, which promises to especially delight the dancer in us all. And in a special treat, radio star Alan Jones, will join the cast in the role of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
With familiar tunes such as "Tomorrow" and "It's a Hard-Knock Life", this show remains one of the most loved classics of all time, and will play to packed houses in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from January 5th 2012.
